Engineering Change

"THE ARCTIC"  IS MISSING ICE 3 TIMES THE SIZE CALIFORNIA, THIS YEAR.

"I have been have been looking at Arctic weather patterns for 35 years and have never seen anything close to what we’ve experienced these past two winters,” said Mark Serreze the director of the National Snow and Ice Data Center.

A record low maximum amount of sea ice doesn’t necessarily mean a record low minimum, given ice melts during the summer, said Walt Meier, a sea ice scientist at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, “But it’s guaranteed to be below normal.”

I do not desire days of eternal and endless sun, although it may sound like a description of a virtual utopia to many. I prefer the excitement of change. Every year, I treasure the irreplaceable gifts nature offers in her exchange of the four seasons rotating rhythms.

I am awed by my personal experience of nature's seasonal gifts of the sweet cleansing drops of rain nourishing my freshly planted garden in spring,... the sultry hot days of summer served with melting popsicles to sweaty children riding their bicycles,...when Granny Annie's garden has been harvested for the last time giving birth to chilly mornings when golden leaves dusted with a thin glittering layer of frost sweep the yard in small cyclones, make me feel human and vulnerable to life. Lastly, there is the moment when I watch the fat and fluffy snow flakes fall gently on the outstretched tongue of my beloved Grandchild's red cheeked-face, from the frosty pane of my kitchen window. Those singular moments on cold snowy days, remain priceless frozen snap shots, that joyously live in my mind's memory of winter. I am persuaded by age and experience, that God has made all of us his stewards, called to protect the environment.

It stands as an important and interesting footnote in the study of World History and the Annals of Scientific Inventions, that in November of 2005, the Mall of the Emirates, located in Dubai, had built and opened the first indoor ski center with a mountain motif and snow for year-round skiing and snow boarding. This ingeniously engineered, first of its kind, ski resort became famous, because it was an architectural design come to life, that could be artificially chilled and protected from a natural year-round desert climate. It has become a successful business and well-known family destination in which to frolic, among the citizens of Dubai, since its opening. The world-renown ski center has earned its awards for the genius innovation in the middle of a damn hot desert.

The results of human environmental abuse is manifesting itself in many diverse and sundry ways, in every country on earth. These weird weather patterns we are witnessing now, are pugilistic manifestations from causes, that defiantly refuse to allow us, to continue denying climate change

The five worst world polluters on record are by rank:
#1) China
#2) U.S.A.
#3) India
#4) Russia
#5) Japan

"Good Night" and no matter what you serve your families for dinner, the best dish you can serve them, is one of sweet memories.
