Terrorists Are Young People With Bloody Rage

It's been another day where the dead, bloodied bodies of innocent people scream from the headlines of media, to jolt the world awake in Europe. Terror has happened in an unlikely place. Russia is a place where we assume that absolute governmental/authoritarian control would remove any capability of a lone wolf or an organized group perpetrating an act of terrorism. We take too much for granted.

Once again, we should be asking why? What in this world, will it take to stop these attacks from happening? Reaching a positive conclusion to every important and difficult challenge we face, starts with a conversation,... we cannot ignore that, not even the uncomfortable ones we dread, in order to find solutions.

What would I say to all the young people out there, who believe the only way that they will be heard is to commit some atrocious act of violence? I would say, "You have changed no one's life for the better."

I would ask, "Is it all about being heard by the world?" "Is it about changing the world?" "What kind of world do you want to live in?"

I think, I would tell them that time does not go backwards, only forward. There is hope for every young person's future, but they have to seek hope in a positive way, by doing positive things that propel their lives in that direction. Hope is a spiritual compass, that always points to true North. Hope is found looking up. It is not too late, to prepare for the future, because their future is coming, in a modern digital world. Destruction is not a future or an existence meant to build a life to live in. These are the things I would say.

I find one of the most beautiful things in this world, is watching and listening to young people. It is a joy to watch happy young people act out all the quirky, funny and interesting things they say and do. There is joy in watching young people celebrate being alive. The joy is similar to the feeling you get on the Fourth of July. It's like one of those sunny days spent in the park, sitting on a soft checkered blanket after eating your fill of smoky barbecued ribs, sausage and steak fresh off the grill and gobs of finger food from the picnic basket. You watch the children with colorful burning sparklers in the evening and the awesome explosion of color filled nights illuminating the sky overhead. The crowd cheers and claps wildly! The excitement is palpable and the invisible waves of sonic energy blasts through the night air, felt reverberating down to your core. No one in the crowd is left feeling an indifferent passion among the festivities. The same way it is with healthy and happy young people.

All that good parents and Grandparents want out of life, is to see their posterity grow up to be happy, healthy adults who contribute to the goodness of this world. We want to see young people build good lives for themselves and their children. Lives that they can ultimately, be proud of, when their name is mentioned. We want young people to achieve worthwhile accomplishments, that leave their mark on the world for the better and not for the worse.

And yet, somehow, we have failed our young people. The world is left wondering at times like this, whether the failure belongs to their parent's and Grandparent's acts of omission or commission, in their social duties to raise these children,... who have grown up to be terrorists. These terrorists once were children. Unfortunately, these terrorists are citizens of the world, but disengaged as productive adults in the social circle of humanity. What happened? Was the problem with these young people's destructive behavior because of poor/dysfunctional familial nurturing or the failure of their religious culture, training and morality? Or are we looking at a problem where a brainwashed mindset in young people, react in the only way they know how to handle it,... by terrorism? Has this new brave world of cyber digital technology overwhelmed their old world, resulting in a bloody rage against the future?

Apparently, based on the evidence in newspapers, magazines and television, there is an underlying thread of truth to the suggestion that, "It Takes A Village To Raise A Child".

Thank you, Hillary for reminding us, again.
