Trumponomics: Fears About A Coming Trump Slump

Its important to review the 1929 Hoover Presidential Administration because you will see the basis of his Presidential campaign was built on the promise of an optimistic, "New Day" for America. His Presidential cabinet was made up of strong standouts for the various head of state positions in each division. These men were loyal supporters and confidantes he relied on and called on regularly for advice.
Hoover began his Presidential Administration with energy and enthusiasm focused on progressive improvements such as: directing the Dept. of the Interior to improve conditions for Native American Indians on government controlled reservations. Next Hoover mandated the construction of a massive dam project, named the Hoover Dam to provide power for public utilities in California. Then he demonstrated his belief in the conservation of natural resources by installing Horace Albright to the National Park Service and adding 2 million acres of federal land into the national forest service.
Hoover appointed numerous commissions and committees to study and solve America's biggest social problems and in some cases suggesting legislation by Congress. However, overall, the collective groups as a whole, resisted calls that the federal government should take an active role in solving social or economic problems.
Pres. Hoover faced 2 important issues early in his presidency: farm agriculture issues and import/export tariff policies.
The American farmers income shrank due to agricultural over-production. Hoover supported a bill creating a Federal Farm Board that loaned money to farmers to create and strengthen farm cooperatives that would control production of crops brought to market. In June 1929 Congress passed the Agricultural Marketing Act with a Federal farm Board and no farmer subsidies.
Tariffs were a significant flash-point in American politics between both parties. Hoover secretly and discretely inserted a codicil into the legislation.creating a non-partisan Tariff Commission that could raise/lower rates, but was defeated in the fall of 1929, resulting in an unchanged tariff reform.
Hoover demonstrated a questionable political acumen and proved as much an ineffective politician as he was an organizer of exploratory political commissions and committees.
Hoover soon confronted the later of the 2 greatest crisis in American history after the Civil War,...the "Great Depression".
The American economy of the 1920's was prosperous, but unsound. The economic collapse that defined the "Great Depression" didn't happen all at once or for 1 reason. Historians have identified 4 reasons: #1) structural weakness in agriculture and industrial policies, #2) a frail international economy, #3) over speculation in the American financial sector #4) Europe's economic health hinged on a robust American economy. The combination of agricultural woes and industrial stagnation conspired to grind America's fragile economy to a halt and had far-reaching effects on Europe's economy..

From Wikipedia:
When the Wall Street Crash of 1929 struck less than eight months after he took office, Hoover tried to combat the ensuing Great Depression in the United States with large-scale government public works projects such as the Hoover Dam, and calls on industry to keep wages high. He reluctantly approved the Smoot–Hawley Tariff of 1930, which sent foreign trade spiraling down. He believed it was essential to balance the budget despite falling tax revenue, so he raised the tax rates. The economy kept falling, and the unemployment rate rose to 25%, with heavy industry, mining, and wheat and cotton farming hit especially hard. This downward spiral, plus his support for prohibition policies that had lost favor, set the stage for Hoover's overwhelming defeat in 1932 by Democrat Franklin D. Roosevelt, who promised a New Deal. Most historians agree that Hoover's defeat in the 1932 election was caused primarily by the downward economic spiral, although his strong support for prohibition was also significant.

Today, in the news it was reported that the White House requested the FBI to deny that Trump's Administration/Cabinet had any contact with Russia. To FBI director James Comey's credit, that request was denied.
During the Hoover Administration, Pres. Hoover lied to America when he told them, "the fundamental business of the country, that is production and distribution, was on a sound and prosperous basis." It was 1 1/2 weeks before Christmas of 1929 when statistics showed that 1 million American workers had lost their jobs.
Granny Annie has decided to serve her hard-working and hungry crew her old reliable dish of hearty Meatloaf.

Tonight, I am particularly grateful for a few good men who refuse to lie, who serve in the highest offices in our government for the good of our nation, but more importantly because they have a moral ethic. Tonight I toast them with a glass of 2016 "Dynamite" brand Cabernet Sauvignon and say a heart felt, "Boner Appertite!"
