YOU matter!

Good Evening! I'm sorry, I've been absent from making submissions to my blog for several days.  I've needed the time to myself.

When I considered starting my blog, I discussed it with my husband. I told him that I didn't want to write anything... unless, I felt passionately about the subject.

I have always loved books and the palpable experience of the tactile sense of holding a book in my hands and turning its pages. I enjoy rubbing the pages with my fingertips and making "dog-ears", when I come to the spot where I mark the temporary end of reading. I have always been in love with the written word. My mind feasts upon all the printed thoughts recorded in the author's written words, that illuminate our shared worlds. That eternal conversation between men, of the human experience. Sharing our different worlds on paper, through the old-fashioned medium of books, magazines, periodicals of sorts and academic journals. All written words, birthed from the inner core of our brains, though sometimes beheld at an arm's length from us, in more ways than one.

When I was a girl, books were my refuge. I read as many books, as I had the opportunity. The stories created and lived by other people, those machinations, whether real or fiction, were my salvation. I often wanted to live inside some of those stories, because they took me away, to another time and place for a little while; they were my escape.

So I am sure you are asking, "What has all this drivel got to do with anything?"

It is everything, in summary.

Have you ever considered joining Ancestry.com and getting your DNA tested? Why would you want to know about where you come from? Why do so many of us want to find our family roots? Why is the connection to our dead ancestors, important to us? Why do we want to know who we are? Are we searching for the meaning of WHOSE we are? Are we searching for answers to find out our purpose for being here? Why do we need to find out how we fit in this world? Why do we wonder, "What is my destiny?"

There are only a few things that I know.

I know YOU matter! I know we must first believe in ourselves and that the meaning of our lives start, by believing that we matter in this world. For better or for worse.  I watched Anderson Cooper interview Gov. John Kasich yesterday. Gov. Kasich said something really important, he said that there is a Jewish Holocaust Remembrance Memorial inscribed, "If I change one life...perhaps, I have changed the world." Believe YOU make a difference in this world, because you are here!

Those words resonated profoundly inside my heart. So...tonight, before I close my eyes to sleep, I will be praying for G-d, to either make me... or my meatloaf, better. I hope he picks me.

A "Kisbee Ring" in a World-Wide Political Ocean of Confusion

Good afternoon, Dear Readers! I received my May/June 2017 issue of "FOREIGN AFFAIRS", magazine in the mail today. It is the "best",178 page issue in my current gazette of literary arsenals, to date. Reading this issue is a delightful literary hot fudge sundae, devoured at the beach, on a blistering 110 degree day in August, at 4 o'clock!

I heartily encourage your thirsty curiosity and ravenous appetite for a well-written and pungent political dissemination from a discerning and wide-eyed informational purveyor of world affairs.

We are citizens, who belong to the world. The "Foreign Affairs" journal, will illuminate your perspective about the world and the critical issues currently influencing and changing the world around us.

All 178 pages are worth the read...every blessed word!

There Is More To Consider...

Good evening! The night is just starting to fall over the ocean. The wind is a moist breeze gently wafting through Grandpoppy's office window. The yellow light from the the old gooseneck lamp softly illuminates the messy stack of unfiled  papers, sitting on the corner of Grandpoppy's desk. Grandpoppy has his own special way of organizing chaos from a pile of seemingly disorganized reams of stacked paper. He has his own file system and likes it that way. I wouldn't dare disturb it. Somehow, seeing this familiar and scattered filing system, unchanged, day-after-day, is comforting.

There is beauty in the familiar and unchanged practices, that make us feel safe and secure in this ever-changing world. There is comfort in the knowledge that there are some things that do not change. There is a wonderful beauty in living long, that lets us find out what we will become over time. Long life gives us the opportunity to experience the possibilities of life and learn from our mistakes. A long life proves to us that there is more than one way to live and BE in this life. It is a gift that offers a perspective that youth does not have enough time to learn.

It is unfortunate, that even in the smallest corners of the world there are human beings, who believe that starvation, physical torture and religious fervor can permanently change the basic DNA/biology/nature of a person's sexual orientation.

In Grozny, Russia it is sadly reported by the New York Times, that it is a common practice to arrest suspected gay men and proceed to try to administer malevolent enticement to expose their consensual partners and modify their sexual orientation.
************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************
Excerpt from the New York Times article titled:

‘They Starve You. They Shock You’: Inside the Anti-Gay Pogrom in Chechnya

“Gays in Chechnya and the North Caucasus are in lethal danger,” Igor Kochetkov, director of the Russian LGBT Network, said in a telephone interview. “People whose partners are detained have every reason to believe they will be arrested. It is very hard not to name the names under torture.”

After these men are released, they escape the region to avoid any further persecution or go into hiding from their persecutors.

Why can't people understand that there are many variations in the course of nature and biology that doesn't always produce the same expected/accepted outcomes in the world of science? How do we define what is abnormal vs. normal? Is the determination and acceptance or approval based strictly upon philosophical roots? Does hard science have anything to say about it? There is a extensive article that appeared in the June 2007 publication of "Scientific American", called:

"Going Beyond X and Y" discussed by geneticist, Dr. Eric Vilain, working at the University of California, Los Angeles. He talks about the biology of sex determination, gender identity, the psychology and politics behind them.

Homosexual behavior in animals

 From Wikipedia

The observation of homosexual behavior in animals can be seen as both an argument for and against the acceptance of homosexuality in humans, and has been used especially against the claim that it is a peccatum contra naturam ("sin against nature").
************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************
Why can't nature just be "nature"? Why does it have to be a sin? It will happen, whether society approves or disapproves. Most people are removed from living close to nature. Most people have a poor understanding of nature and biological habits in nature. Why is it necessary to attach societal condemnation? What if homosexuality is... just another variant in biological and genetic science? There was a time in human history, when many people believed the world was flat. Science has since, disproved it. How do we know, that tomorrow's science won't disprove the "sin against nature" theory?

Hope Comes Fashioned in Many Forms...

It's cool tonight and a calm, gentle wind is blowing through the window in Grandpoppy's office. The puppies are tucked snugly into their doggie bed for the night. Grandpoppy is bundled up with our soft yellow blanket under the patch-work quilt, snoring to beat the band!

When I look out across the vast blue ocean and imagine another far away land on the other side of the world, threatening to send America nuclear tipped malevolent felicitations,... I am shaken.

China has put its nation's military on "high alert" and are sending 25,000 troops to the border of North Korea to prepare for war. I've heard several news anchors say, that the real test for Donald Trump will come when there is a national crisis. I think it's here. Is he prepared? This is no time to "Practice Being President", hoping a trial run at a staged dress rehearsal will prepare us. If we fail the real test,... the damage will be insurmountable and incalculable. We need a seriously experienced Captain, with wisely grounded leadership to steer this ship, so that we don't end up running aground in the dark perilous night of brinkmanship carried out on an internationally, politically charged stage in war.

The regular citizen living in middle America, is worried. It seems more so, everyday, that the world we grew up knowing, is gone forever. Do we have confidence in a bright future? Do we have confidence in our elected leaders to tell us the truth? Who will tell American citizens the truth about what is going on in our government and international affairs? Will the truth come from corporate interests that own television networks? Whose version of the truth, are we going to be getting?

If I had a simple bottle with a cork, I would write all of my thoughts and questions down on paper and stick them inside that crystal time capsule. I would ride into the middle of the Pacific Ocean, dropping my collection of concerns for the future and enumerated worries, into the great Pacific Equatorial Drift.

It is said that people have been sending messages in a bottle for more than 2000 years. Many of the rolled up messages tied with ribbon inside clear bottles were set adrift on the ocean by castaways and romantic writers, each hoping for their own kind of rescue. Historically, messages launched in bottles were traditionally penned by castaways, conveying critical distress to the outside world. The ancient and more modern day castaway's message in a bottle must seem like a futile and improbable attempt for rescue,... to them. Desperation for help, must have dominated their waking moments, as well as hope for a better future in their pleas for rescue from an otherwise, potentially doomed situation. I guess hope comes fashioned in many forms,... for lovers and castaways.

It seems that China's message of hope for peaceful negotiations and calm, cool thinking is trapped in a bottle. They don't know if Kim Jong Un will uncork the bottle and wisely consider the message, or ignore the opportunity for peace and a rescue from annihilation.

Pondering horrific peril makes Granny Annie thirsty. I think I'll indulge in a nightcap, perhaps a Tequila Sunrise.

Trump's National Report Card

Good morning!

News this morning touts Trump's looming "First 100 Days", national report card due in another 10 days. It already feels like it's been a full year into Trump's term of office.  His Administrative staffers are scurrying around to compile another set of lyrics in their second chorus of Trump's version of that old spiritual hymn, "How Great He Art"! They must be sweating, like a whore in church, as they nervously work on a good cover story for "His Time" magazine's May issue of "Alternative Facts". You can be sure that Sean Spicer will be shamelessly spouting and spewing the purported glorious achievements of Herr Comb-Over, written by Kelly Anne Conway.

It reminds me of residential realtors working on a time crunch, frantically trying to renovate an old eye sore of a house for sale, before an open house weekend! They inventory needed house repairs and begin the work of making new fixes. Their contractors spackle and paint over holes in the wall and replace damaged parts with new cosmetic improvements that attract potential buyers. These realtors know that "SHOW" is more important in nailing a quick sale than substance. So the realtor skillfully guides and redirects potential home buyers attention, away from any potential problems, that could stall or end the sale on a problematic property.

Yep,.. if Trump's administrative staffers like Kelly Anne, ever loses her job, she can always become a real estate agent. There is no doubt, she would be wildly successful at it, since she has publicly endorsed "Alternative Facts", as "another way to look at it." Apparently, Kelly Anne should know, because she has had years of experience to draw upon. She has earned her notorious recognition as the ingenious and creative inventor of the new liar's lexicon of "Alternative Facts". She has found her way into modern American history for being a creative orator of ignominious distinction!

For lunch, Granny Annie will be serving, "Chicken and Dumplings" with a "Spicey" side salad covered in some home made Russian dressing and topped off with American Apple Pie for dessert.

Incompetent, Bumbling, Fumbling Clown of a President

It is discouraging when American citizens cannot believe the news that their government officials tell them about their national security.

When you learn days later, that you have been blatantly lied to,... en masse, without the slightest sense of shame, by the elected and sworn officials placed in the highest offices in the land, that willfully fabricate stories,...you feel a sense of betrayal . How can these people ever be believed in the future by their own citizens, not to mention,... by the world watching? What a joke and the joke is on us! Talk about a wanton dereliction of duty, to the citizens who elected you! These people have no conscience or moral ethics. The people who will blindly follow orders given from the President of the United States, knowing they are lying to us, prove themselves to be disgraceful and abhorrent people. What else will they lie to the American public about, down the road from now? The "Nuremberg Defense", didn't work in 1945 and still doesn't work today.

The bumbling incompetence of this White House Administration is so endemic that even if the Pentagon staff did try to do their job, knowing the USS Carl Vinson was headed to the waters around Australia, instead of the Korean Peninsula, someone in Trump's administrative inner circle did not tell the President. That "SOMEONE", ought to be fired! It is likely, that if all the incompetent staffers of the Trump Administration were fired, Ivanka Trump might be the only survivor. It's embarrassing.

If the President is so uninformed, incompetent and dangerous in the performance of his duties...how can he be relied upon to protect and defend our national security? He engenders no credibility or respect from American citizens, who want to believe their President's every word and rely upon his word. The President is supposed to represent our nation. He shows no serious respect for the office, he holds. He has tarnished the respectability of the office of President and has used it for his own aggrandizement and to placate his own narcissistic desires.

Today, Pres. Trump is throwing a big shindig for a bunch of inconsequential football players at the White House. It is likely, that Pres. Trump will be throwing another "whoop-de-do shindig", in the future, wasting the taxpayers dollars for nothing of lasting or important value, when he could use that energy, time and money on a worthwhile project for the American taxpayer. But then, our elected "Narcissist-in-Chief", wouldn't get an applauded photo opportunity for himself, compared to this one.  It makes me think that Pres. Trump missed his true calling. It seems like he makes a better cruise ship activity director than America's "Leader of the Free World", the "Commander-in-Chief of the United States Armed Forces".

America elected a narcissistic clown, who has the reputation of "Liar-in-Chief", as President of the United States. What a disappointment!

What Future Do You Dream?

What kind of future do we dream of?

I met a man tonight in the grocery store at the magazine rack. We quickly began a casual conversation about finding the kind of magazines that interest us most. One thing led to another and we sat down at a table, by the Starbucks Cafe across from the magazines.

We sipped our cups of coffee and my new friend, told me a lot about his life and the many adventures he had endured. He actively engaged in leading an energetic and colorful life. He had been a "Jack-of-all-Trades" and mastered them all. He's had a life that truly has seen fire and rain,...lonely times he thought would never end. My friend had been the subject of many heart-breaking experiences and yet, still lived to appreciate happy times of profound blessings. His aura was kind with a  measured tempo. I heard the truth in his voice. I felt honored to sit with this decorated Korean War Veteran.

He told me about what happened to him because he dared to believe in his dreams. He told me about the specific times he acted on the information exposed to him in his dreams.

His mother had died when he was 16 years old. His Dad remarried shortly thereafter and promptly drove him to the local Marine recruiter's office.

The sadness, I saw living in this 83 year old man's eyes, broke my heart for him. The twist and turns of his young life, forced him to make his own scared way in the world. Steve is not bitter or angry at his Dad, as he spoke, ...just sad. If Steve had not indulged his faith in the life-saving, dreamed information his departed mother had given him, when he was young, he believes he wouldn't have lived to enjoy the blessings he has today. He believes that her spirit was always there, looking out for him and guiding him all along the way. Later, he likewise, indulged in following the dreams where his beloved wife, following her death, twice gave him odd and impractical instructions. He followed her unusual instructions both times, even though his son thought he had lost his mind and reaped the literal cash rewards from it.

Steve is a prayerful man with soft brown eyes and a clean face, adorned by neatly trimmed silver hair. He credits faith in God and daily prayer for his long life and fortune. Before our chance meeting was over, he encouraged me to do 2 things. He endorsed daily prayer and believing in my dreams. He said, " Believe in your dreams,... to have the life... you only dream of.".
